Alpha 2025

Curious about Faith? Try Alpha

7.30-9.30pm from Wednesday 22nd January 2025 – St John’s Hall, Knowle. If you’ve got questions about life, faith, God or anything really, then Alpha is the place for you.

Hosted by Rev Steve Johnson, each evening you’ll receive a warm welcome with a hot drink, we’ll watch a short video with some input to get us thinking. We then break out into groups of 8-10 people to share what we made of it and some of the questions we’ve all come with.

In our discussion groups, you can say as little or as much as you’d like (within reason) and you definitely don’t need to have answers. Some may have had past exposure to church and faith, others none at all but everyone there will be questioning, exploring and up for considering what life and faith is all about. There are no expectations apart from being open to listening to one another. You’ll be led by our trained church team who will guide the evening’s conversation.

The course is split into 3 sections beginning with an introductory night on 22nd January. You can come to week 1 and just try it out without having to sign up for the whole thing, or take it one section at a time. We do find though that people tend to enjoy the evenings and once the groups get going they are a real encouragement and something to look forward to week after week.

In the middle of the course, we have a day away together. This is always a special highlight for everyone. On Saturday 15th March, we take the time to pause and stop and consider all we’ve been thinking about. Our input on the day away is all about the Holy Spirit, God’s life giving and life enhancing presence. You’ll receive all the details about the away day at week 1 but to get the most out of the course, do make it a priority and put the date in your diary as soon as possible. The full schedule is below.

If you’re curious about faith, sign up and come along. Everyone is welcome. You’re invited, no matter what your background or beliefs. It’s free and there’s no pressure to come back.

To book, email alpha@kpc.org.uk or phone 01564 779123.

See you there
Steve

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

Whether you are thinking of coming to church for the first time because you are interested in exploring faith,  whether you’re new to the area and looking for a church, or whether you’re investigating baptism or marriage, you are really welcome. Our vision is to be “A house of God’s light for all peoples and generations,” and we really hope you’ll get to experience some of that light.

You’ll find we have different styles of services that reflect our diverse congregation. Click here to find out which of our services might suit you.  When you arrive you should be met by a member of our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome badge. Please do make yourself known to them so that they can let you have a Welcome Pack and, if you like, can introduce you to someone to sit next to in the service.

What is there for my children?
If you are coming along with children, you might find our 9.30 Family Service most suitable.  Most weeks, the children start in the church with their accompanying adult (we really value worshipping God altogether as an inter-generational community.) After around 15 minutes, children go out to their own Sunday groups. More details of these age groups can be found on our Children and Young People page. On the first Sunday of the month, we hold either an All Age or All In service.

How do I get to know people in such a big church?
While you will get to know some people if you come to a church service, it is often at smaller gatherings which happen during the week that you will get to know people better.  Click here to read about the other groups which run during the week and here for activities that go on at the church.

How can I get involved?
Click here to read about the many ways in which you can get involved in the life of the church. Getting involved is another great way of way of getting to know people. We’d love KPC to be a church where we grow spiritually by contributing.

We hope very much that you will like what you taste and soon feel at home in our church.

Best wishes,
Geoff Lanham, Vicar
